The ARKS test – towards an MSA Kart Race Licence

bullet pointThe ARKS Test
The ARKS Test is intended for drivers with some previous karting experience who wish to apply for their MSA kart racing competition licence in order to compete in Owner/Driver MSA race meetings. The test is in two parts: theory and practical, and takes around four hours to complete. You will need to purchase an ARKS Starter Pack, complete the enclosed application and undertake any necessary medical test before the date of the test (drivers under 18 do not need a medical). Places must be booked in advance.

bullet pointThe ARKS Starter Pack
You will need to purchase the MSA Starting Karting ARKS Pack in order to take your ARKS Test. The pack contains everything you will need to know for the test, as well as a licence application form and lots of useful information to get you started. The pack costs £50 inclusive and is available from the circuit or via our secure online shop.

With Buckmore supplying the kart and equipment: £120. With you supplying your own kart and equipment: £90.00

Before drivers can progress into MSA competitions, they must obtain an MSA licence by taking the ARKS Test at an approved school. Lasting for approximately four hours, the test consists of both a written multiple-choice examination and a practical driving test. It covers all aspects of the sport, emphasising safety and good driving technique. More details, including a DVD containing all the information required to take and pass the test, are supplied in the official MSA Starter Pack (shown above) which can be purchased from the shop on this website. Please note: You only need to obtain an ARKS licence if you wish to ultimately race with your own kart. An ARKS licence is not* required for any of our Hire Club events or practice sessions.

* The exception is for drivers aged 14 – 15 who wish to compete in adult hire kart events where the usual minimum age is 16. In this case an MSA licence will allow entry from age 14 years as long as the licence is presented at sign in.
