Whether you are a total novice or a regular, experienced karting enthusiast, Buckmore Park has a race to suit you. As long as you are over 16, at least 5' (152.4cm) tall and in reasonable health, then read on to find the best event for you. See notes below regarding drivers under 18.
Races are arranged in two basic formats: sprint and endurance.
Sprint Races: in karting terms a sprint event consists of a practice followed by a series of short, sharp races in which points are scored to decide the grid for a grand final. The grand final result is what decides who goes home with the trophies.
Endurance Races: (sometimes shortened to 'enduro') this can take the form of an individual or a team event. An endurance is a continuous race preceded by practice/qualifying in which the winner is the driver or team who has completed the most laps in the given time.
The Star Rating System
It is natural that there is a big difference in ability between a novice entering a race for the first time, and the driver who has been pounding the tarmac every week for years. Therefore we arrange all our races in star rated tiers so that we have an event suitable for everyone.
Please read the star ratings below and then be totally honest with yourself and choose the event that best suits your level. There is nothing worse than a novice being totally out-classed and a mobile chicane to experienced drivers; or a "been there, done that, got the T shirt" 'pot hunting' driver winning a novice event.

Everything you need to race is provided — all you have to do is arrive in casual clothes and with suitable shoes (e.g. trainers), and you can go racing. Perhaps bring a change of clothes in case it rains.

Buckmore Park Kart Drivers Club (BPKDC) organises hundreds of hire kart races at Buckmore throughout each year. Participation in any event is all it takes to become a full member of the club. All* of the events are open to anyone over 16 years and 5' tall, and are graded according to ability and experience. Some events are additionally organised into championships for drivers who wish to compete for an additional championship trophy in a series of races throughout the season. Please note that one-off entries are very welcome in all* championship events.
* Entry into 5* Elite events requires a permit. The qualifications required to gain an Elite permit are: Previous experience at 4* level, holding a current kart or car race licence, having Club 100 race experience or similar and provable experience elsewhere.
For further information on any BPKDC event, please contact the Club Coordinator Alan Wood at alan@buckmore.co.uk
Please note: Drivers under 18 years of age.
The minimum age to drive in adult events is 16 years*, but all drivers aged under 18 years must be signed in by their parent or guardian who should be present at the desk when the minor signs in. Without a parent or guardian counter signature the minor will not be permitted to drive.
*The minimum age is reduced to 14years for drivers who carry a current MSA Kart Race licence which MUST be presented and checked. This does not remove the need for a parent/guardian countersignature.
Thanks again for a great evening.
