Tom sisley and Jenson Button in 1992 at Buckmore Park In his karting days, 2009 FIA Formula One World Champion Jenson Button spent many hours at Buckmore Park. He won the British Super One Cadet and Cadet O-Plate titles at Buckmore in 1991, the Junior TKM title in 1992, and a round of the JICA Super One Championship in 1994. Jenson was also team-mate to Buckmore owner’s son Tom Sisley over a five year period in championship level UK and European/World Junior karting.
Buckmore boss Bill Sisley remembers those days with affection: “I saw Jenson in his first Cadet race. My son Tom and he were team-mates and fierce rivals on circuit, but great friends off circuit. Although Tom was a couple of years younger, between them they dominated Cadet and Junior karting in the UK and Europe, being multiple British championship winners between 1991 and 1994. Both boys then won national championships in Formula Ford, before Jenson quickly rose through F3 to F1.
