Buckmore Park Overview

Buckmore Park, the heart of British Karting, has a unique sporting and leisure heritage dating back 53 years. Circuit owner, F1 and motorcycle World Champion John Surtees, is undertaking an extensive project of redevelopment to further establish Buckmore Park’s reputation as a world class motorsport venue.  Phase one of this project has now been completed and the track has been modernised with new custom-made barriers, tarmac run-off areas with painted strips and new and upgraded karts for all age groups. Phase two will see the renovation of the clubhouse reception area and café area.

Buckmore Park is an international length, MSA licensed competition circuit. Open seven days a week all year round, we offer a large selection of karts for all age groups from 4+. The impressive clubhouse facilities offer meeting rooms, conference facilities and catering options to host groups from 10 to approx.150.

We have a team of around 80 permanent and seasonal staff who work tirelessly to ensure we constantly exceed our customers’ expectations by providing an exciting and memorable experience.

Description of the role 

We have an exciting opportunity at Buckmore Park for a Catering Assistant. After a recent organisational change, we have brought our catering function in house and are looking for an experienced Catering Assistant to assist our Catering Manager in this important part of our leisure facility.

We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced individual who is ready for a new challenge with experience in either contract or high volume catering.

Reporting to the Catering Manager, this hands-on role will assume responsibility for the day-to-day running of Buckmore Park Café and the hospitality services at Buckmore Park during the Catering Manager’s absence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: -

Staff

  • Assisting in the training of casual staff
  • Assisting in the planning of staff shifts and rotas
  • Assisting in the managing of holidays and absences 

Food

  • Responsible for cooking, presentation and organisation of meals, food and beverages as well as supervising some members of the team with these responsibilities
  • Managing the food and beverage provision
  • Maintain stock levels and order supplies as required
  • Monitor the quality of the product and service provided
  • Menu planning
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are strictly observed

 Customer Service

  • Interacting with customers
  • Instilling excellent customer service skills in the team
  • Strong and effective written and oral communication with both customers and team members

 Person Specification

  • Previous catering experience; cooking, cleaning down etc
  • Strong communication skills
  • Positive individual
  • Efficient with the ability work in a fast-paced position
  • Flexibility (as this position will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays)
  • Own transport

Buckmore Park is open from 07:30 – 23:30 (22:30 during the winter months) 7 days a week including bank holidays. This is a full-time position working 32 - 40 hours over the 7 days as per your rota shift, and changes happen so flexibility is a must, and you must be able to work weekends and late evenings.

We have a team of approx. 80 permanent and seasonal staff who work tirelessly to ensure we constantly exceed our customers’ expectations by providing an exciting and memorable experience.

Description of the role

We have a newly created opportunity for a Sales and New Business Manager to join the team full-time at Buckmore. Reporting directly to the Business Development Director and working with the Sales and booking team, this individual will have responsibility for implementing a strategy to expand Buckmore Park’s customer base, focusing on corporate clients and therefore increasing sales.

Responsibilities

  • Working to generate leads to outreach to new potential clients
  • Negotiate terms of business and closing sales
  • Handing over clients to the booking team to get the events confirmed and paid
  • Updating systems and processes as necessary
  • Working with the management team to design a sales target and incentive scheme
  • Methodically tracking and following up all correspondence
  • Attending relevant trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings
  • Gather market insight and customer feedback to inform future marketing and sales activity
  • Working with the Marketing and Sales team to develop new opportunities
  • Continue to review own sales performance; measure and present performance to senior management
  • Maintain good relationships and provide potential clients with a quality service
  • Adhere to the Buckmore brand guidelines in relation to all communication, both written and verbal
  • Be an excellent brand ambassador for Buckmore Park

Person specification

Essential

  • Previous B2B sales experience
  • Evidence of achieving sales targets
  • Strong communication skills, both on the telephone and in person
  • Resilient and tenacious with a confident approach
  • Positive individual who will strive to push the business forward
  • Efficient with the ability work in a fast-paced position
  • Own transport

Desirable

  • Higher education
  • Interest in Buckmore Park and Motorsport
  • Previous sales experience in the leisure industry
