Buckmore Park gives young drivers the chance to compete without the need to own their own kart or safety equipment. We have two priorities, safety and enjoyment. Our experienced instructors are on hand to nurture young racing talent at the same circuit where Lewis Hamilton was discovered.
The Bambino consists of a three-stage training program that concentrates on teaching the rudimentary steps of race craft using purpose made miniature four and two stroke race karts.
The school prepares young drivers by teaching skills such as pedal control, steering, control of the kart and safety awareness. The school builds up the children's skills and confidence step by step, the first two lessons take place on the Mini GP Circuit using four stroke karts, while their third grade is taught on the larger National Circuit with the faster two stroke race karts.
Bambino Practice & Club is open to drivers who have completed the three stages of the Bambino training program. We will also consider drivers who have reached a similar level of experience elsewhere subject to verification of their competence.
The Bambino Practice gives drivers the opportunity to put in to practice what they have been taught in the Bambino Training Program and a chance to hone those skills before competing against the clock in the Bambino Club.
The Bambino Club consists of timed heats against the clock, preparing drivers for racing in the Junior Club, the next step in our young driver program. There is a trophy presentation at the end of each meeting with awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Training is essential for any child who wants to race karts safely and successfully. Buckmore Junior Training will give any aspiring racer a good start in the competitive world of motorsport. The training is split in to two categories, Introductory & advanced depending on the experience of the driver. The entry level training program covers all aspects of race craft, the advanced program focuses on honing a drivers' skills and improving technique.
The Introductory Kart school is the minimum qualification to race in the Junior Rookie series and ultimately, the Junior Club championship series.
The Junior Rookie series of race meetings has been designed for young drivers to compete in their first season of racing. The drivers are split into two overlapping age classes (8-13 and 12-15) to allow for different growth rates and weights. Race meetings are held regularly and everything is provided for the child in terms of safety wear. They will race a 160cc junior kart on the National Circuit.
Drivers must complete at least 3 Junior Rookie race meetings to qualify for Junior Club.
The Buckmore Junior Club organizes two championships a year. The summer series features seven rounds of which the best five scores will count. This allows for a missed round or to drop a disappointing result. The Winter series comprises of four races, of which the best three count. Race meetings take place on the National Circuit and all safety equipment is provided.
Juniors aged 8-13 will race a 160cc junior kart and juniors aged 13-15 and who are at least 5ft in height will race the 390cc adult karts.
Trophies are presented at each individual race meeting with a special black-tie annual awards evening for all championship winners.
